1380 WAOK .. Just dayum blaq radio...

It's approximately 8:30 AM in the ATL and I am at home sick with the flu. As such I am sitting on the bed, laptop on my thighs listening to Lorraine Jacques White on www.waok.com . True to form I am wondering why the hell I am listening to this woman. But Neal Boortz gets on my last nerves, and Lorraine at least makes me laugh.

On today's show, Lorraine is speculating (in her usually shrill, cracked voice) about Jesse Jackson Jr. She says that the fact that Jesse Jr. worked with the federal government means that they must have had the goods on him. She states that she refuses to believe that he just wanted to maybe do the right thing and he's now known as an informant. Now she asks if Jesse Jr. has ruined his career by being a snitch.

I tell you.. This is coming from a woman who had the Bishop Thomas Weeks, the pastor who beat his wife Juanita Bynum and who was convicted of Aggravated Assault, on her show. He was on her show not to speak his side of the story, he was on Lorraine's show to promote his new reality show where he would find a new wife on TV. That's right ladies and gents, Lorraine the minister promoted another minister's reality show to find a new wife, even though he had just been convicted of Aggravated Assault. Lorraine said she found absolutely nothing wrong with Bishop Weeks finding his wife on TV. Cause she KNEW he would never date a woman who worked at McDonald's. A man of his stature needs to go on TV and find a woman. Well a couple of months later, it became clear why Weeks wanted his reality show (which got canned by the way... who would want to take the chance of matching a wife beating minister with someone?)after he and his congregation (yep people were still following this man) were evicted from his church for non payment. Oh well.

So far on "Power Talk", which is the name of Dr. White's show, two of the regular callers have called- Fred and Antony Muhammad. Brother Antony was on some other angry sounding stuff today, and I had no idea what he was talking about, although sometimes the brotha makes a lot of sense. Fred, who I think is trying to get a position on WAOK, sounded stuffy and half sleep. Fred can't possibly be a working man as he calls the station all day long.

As I said earlier, I don't know why I bother listening to this crap. The callers are usually idiots, the talk show host albeit a sweet lady really bothers the hell out of me and the topics are one dimensional at best. It's amazing what you will listen to while you are at home sick.

(A Critique of Lorrain Jacques White)

I write this letter to the public, to once again raise the level of consciousness in relation to the relentless assault that has once again been leveled at you, in hopes that you would subsequently redefine the means by which you evaluate information and those presenting it. A primary enemy to the psyches, spirits and ultimately the culture of the peoples of the world and those of African descent specifically, are the numerous radio personalities who orchestrate the public discussion as it relates to matters directly pertaining to African Americans. In particular as of late radio personalities including but not limited to Lorrain Jacques White have offered commentary related to the donation rapper T.I. (Clifford Harris) recently made to the Hosea Williams Feed the Homeless and Hungry non profit organization.
Shortly before Thanksgiving, on her radio morning talk show Lorrain Jacques White spent a considerable portion of time illuminating and celebrating the generous donation made by T.I. to the stated non profit organization. Her overwhelmingly celebratory statements of the good deeds of T.I. (a convicted felon as a result of drug charges in 1998 as well as numerous past and present gun charges including but not limited to the possession of machine guns and silencers) are outrageously improper and misplaced. This argument is further strengthend by virtue of the fact that T.I. has spent an enormous amount of time and energy working to convince children that earning money through illegal means, physically harming others and debasing women (by his continued references to them as hoes and bitches) are acceptable modes of conduct. Additionally, Whites celebration of this individual in my opinion is indicative of an agenda which seeks to help her to further ingratiate herself with what some would consider to be the socially, politically and financially elite of Atlanta and abroad. (I mention the socially and politically elite, as a few individuals who control the images and information presented by the media positively promote egregiously ill behaving celebrities while members of the political elite refuse to publicly condemn their acts even in light of the obvious negative impact they elicit on society. I mention the financially elite for obvious reasons.) Lorrain Jacques White has engaged in this shameful behavior at the expense of her own people (African Americans) as well as the American public at large.
In response to her promotional efforts related to T.I' s philanthropic quests, callers quite appropriately and pointedly expounded upon the incredible harm T.I. has and continues to exact on African American youths in particular and American society in general through his music as well as personal behavior. In the face of numerous members of the listening audience who called the show in objection to Lorrain Jacques Whites perverse celebration of the generosity of a man who has continually broken state and federal laws and whose musical works help to effectively corrupt the minds of the youth, this host continued to stand in support of his efforts related to his donation. Callers also explained to this host that T.I.'s actions were identical to those of mafia leaders who donate a miniscule portion of their financial resources to neighborhoods that they continually work to destroy (through their criminal endeavors) in order to gain public acceptability. It was also suggested that to receive any resources from an individual of the ilk of T.I. would be to accept "blood money". These compelling statements related to T.I.'s activities driven by the suggested contemptible intentions were met with complete apathy by the Lorrain Jacques White. Her apathy and utter disregard for the truth was evident by her suggestion that the rapper as well as others like him may not know any better than to espouse the harmful messages and engage in the behaviors that they engage in. Her suggestion that T.I. may lack a basic understanding in terms of right and wrong behavior, as well the ultimate effect that promoting genocidal messages to youth and breaking the law has on society in my opinion is extremely disingenuous, insulting to the public's intelligence and again speaks to the existence of a personal agenda to further supplant herself within the socially, politically and financially elite of Atlanta. To suggest that T.I. does not know better than to break the law and indirectly encourage young people to do the same is to ignore the fact that he himself has stated that rappers need to be more responsible for the messages that they deliver to young people. (Although he has expressed this opinion he has refused to reform himself and adhere to greater standards of lyrical expression.) Furthermore, the assertion that T.I. may not be aware that the breaking of laws is wrong is a completely baseless and preposterous notion, considering the fact that he has been arrested and convicted several times for breaking them.
Radio personalities such as Lorrain Jacques White who essentially work as publicists in promoting individuals and institutions who continually exploit and perpetuate ideas and behaviors that ultimately serve to destroy the moral fiber of African American culture specifically and American culture in general again due so in my opinion, in an attempt to garner favor (in any and all forms possible) from the socially, politically and financially elite. Her support of the charitable efforts of a convicted felon, perpetually engaged in the act of destroying the minds of young people and society through his behavior and musical pursuits is unspeakably dangerous and vile. White's support of T.I.'s charitable efforts are dangerous considering the fact that she has the ear of a portion of the public and vile considering the fact that she purports to be a reverend and therefore a vessel of God. In any society that truly supports and promotes concepts of truth and morality, such an individual would not have a place much less a voice in the public arena.
